Why this exists

I'm 47, straight, and I was diagnosed with HIV. Getting treatment was hard. Doing it alone was harder.

Ramon's story, the founder

Before it happened to me, HIV was something I understood from a distance. Then suddenly it was part of my life. I wasn't registered with a doctor, the waits were long, and I spent weeks not knowing what was happening in my body while I hunted for a specialist and kept going to work. I did all of it alone, with the questions nobody could answer for me. Who can I tell? Will people see me differently? Do I even want to say this out loud?

Medicine has moved forward enormously. The silence hasn't moved at the same speed. Some people are newly diagnosed and terrified. Some have lived with HIV for years and still keep it hidden. Some reach undetectable and have nobody they can share the news with. Some are surrounded by friends and family and still feel completely alone.

Talkpositive exists so that nobody has to carry any of this alone. Not a dating app. Not a medical forum. A private community for real conversation, in the moment, where sometimes the most important thing somebody can say is simply: I just want to talk.
